Everyone knows the Wal-Mart company. Comment on your opinion about discrimination. How well do these reports show both sides (views) of this issue?

In the meantime we have to wait awhile until the Court takes a decision about the case. For now, we don’t know if it was a discrimination issue or not. Either way nowadays women and men have the same obligations and rights. If it is true that Wal-Mart discriminated against women for their gender, that’s very bad, and I completely disagree with that. I am a kind of person that thinks women can play any role in this society, like men. We left behind those times of racism and discrimination. From now to the future, we have to fight for equality and the same opportunities for both groups. Imagine one day that we can see at the White House a woman addressing to the people like a President of the United States or a woman as a successor of a Pope at the Vatican. The roles have changed. Many American families have the woman as home leader while their husbands are in charge of their homes. Yesterday, I saw on news that Sarah Palin earned $120,000 per year as Governor of Alaska, but now she is making more than $12.000.000 giving conferences and selling her most recent book. I don’t think that her husband is doing something else in order to complete the house budget. So, this is a good example how the women are taking more important roles in our lives nowadays and these statistics are growing up!
ReplyDeleteI understand discrimination; like an action against another person because of their political affiliation, their race, creed, or gender. These behaviors are still accepted in the 21st century, by nations on the planet who lack democratic and civilized governments, as is the case of China and some nations in Central Africa. In so-called first world countries like the United States, Canada and even more some European countries where local legislation is strong and punishes any type of discrimination in jail and money, anyone would think that this evil, discrimination, was eradicated forever, but it is not. Two cases prove this thesis. First, the recent legislation of the state of Arizona, where The State legislature makes all of the state police into immigration agents, is detrimental. In this way the good relations between the flows of immigrants from southern nations, Who only come to this state for jobs that no citizen wants to do. Hate legislation, as it has been called, has been criticized around the country even by President Obama. Secondly, the other side of the coin this news article has to do with one of the major employers in this country, Wal-Mart, which is immersed in a lawsuit because several women in these stores claim that men get better benefits in their paychecks for work they are also made by women, including fast promotions are given to men rather than to women. They say they had to wait for a new position for months.
ReplyDeleteThese two cases are outrageous and any decent person would expect not to repeat them again.
I guess those women are doing great job! Actually a lot of people shop at the Wal Mart. It is very comfortable and one stop shopping. You can find almost everything what you need to in your usual life. However, it destroyed a lot of small busineses, also gives a lot of problems with manufacturers who offer stuff for Wal Mart with very nice customer service. The owner of the Wal Mart made a lot of money. It is time to pay these women back. Personnally I really don`t like Wal Mart. I with those women will be winner! Iwill pray for you!
ReplyDeletewe have to wait until the Court makes a decision to really know if the discrimination happens or not against those women. In these days women are showing the ability to do the same as men. We had been looked as fragil, sensible, but we are strong. Because of this women are gaing her space in a lot of business nowdays. I do not belive that discrimination has been a current event, even though it is still present in some people in society. It reduces a lot, because we have the same rights and obliglations. However there are few men that still have the same idea that a woman has to be taking care of the home. I thing this is already gone. Both have to work together and be pround for each other. We are dufferent in gender and in ability to do things. Why discriminate against somebody because of the gender instated of being proud for whathe or she can do the best.I hope the WALT-MART did not discriminate agaist thet group of women.I totally disagree with that, if this happened for real. We are in a new area, so let's leave the old thoughts for the past. There are a lot of opportunities for everybody. Who is really good and cares about what they are doing will have the success and space that they want.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with this discrimination thing? Is it really discrimation that we are talking about it, or is something else?
ReplyDeleteMen and women have been through so many other issues in life. Is this really worth it? Women have been fighting for the same nights for a long time and I believe that they have gotten them Obama signed a law that gives the rights for women and men to be paid equally. Now let's talk about what we really want it. I believe that the modern women has asked for more that they can handle. First I will give some examples about the past and then I will finish my comment by saying what is going on now in these days. The women from the past had a great life, they didn't have to work outside of the home. Their job was to take care of the house, the kids and be pretty for their husbands. Is that too much to ask? I don't think so, even I could do it. Now, they asked for rights to work and get paid on an equal basis with us, It is not a problem. But can they really work just like us? No, they can't. A man is stronger than a woman. There are some types of jobs that I think a woman should not be doing, for example: some kind of construction work. A women needs to be pretty, that may be too much for her. But I am not saying that some guys are trying to do some kind of job that for me , It should be executed just by a woman. Anyhow, back to talking about equal rights. I miss the time that a guy would open the car dorr for a girl, pay the bill at a restaurant and help a girl with the heavy bags.
Well, if same rights are what they asked for, I am sure they got it. I want the same rights too. I want my car door opened too, I want the bills to be split and more than anything I want help with the heavy bags.
This also has been a long story, too. I believe that almost all countries that had time of not only economical but also political and educational development have experienced similar kind of issues. However, why do people see this only as an issue or a problem? It’s a problem to the company called ‘Wal-mart’. And it is not a problem of the female employees. It is rather a growing procedure to make a better and healthier society.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, I would rather say this could lead to a much better and reasonable working environment to all members. And here’s one practical solution for Wal-mart company to maintain their business without hassle. It could sound like a joke but why do they not thinking of taking the differences back from the male employers that have worked for the certain period which is not a hot potato?
To develop my opinion a little further, man and women are not created equal physically. This means people can be hired and paid equally by their ability not by their physical difference. This is not any different from racial discrimination that has been a long issue throughout the history. I know it takes time to fight againt this discrimination, however, to be honest, I never know when this will come to an end.
I can say about the Wallmart issue. As now a days women are comparing them selves to men. Now you can see a woman working in resturants, factories, malls, shops, as a poltician etc. As you know women are getting ahead now a days then the man. So my suggestion is that women should get paid the same as man employess and they both have same wages, woman can appeal for their efforts and I think they did a good job for woman community in the world. As every one says that as a success man their is the hand of women.
ReplyDeleteIt is a fact that physically women and men are not the same. Also their roles in life are different. But women are stronger than men, because they are mothers. They have to organize the home, take care of the children and their husbands. In addition to this, if they have a job they have to go work every day. This is my point of view to the women.
ReplyDeleteIf the Wal Mart case is real, I mean if it is called discrimination, than it is really a big disappointment. Maybe if the plaintiff women do not know other women’s salary in Wal Mart, they think that all other women employees are getting paid less than men employees like them.
I guess these plaintiff women are not satisfied with what they make at Wal Mart and to get more, they may use the word ‘discrimination’. In the news, I could not notice about the men’s salary at Wal Mart. May be some men earn less than women at Wal Mart.
I am eager to know the result of the court’s judgment.
But in this century men and women have the same rights, equivilence, fairness and freedom.
If the women employees in Wal Mart are not happy, why do they still want to work there?
If all the women employees resign, Wal Mart may change their salary.
On the other hand disequilibrium on the salary can not be called discrimation... at least the female population is larger than the number of males at Wal Mart. But before I give my last decision on this subject, I read some more articles from the Web and found that there are bunches of lawyers and journalists involved to investigate issues since 1995. They found out there is really difference existing between the women and men employees even if they do the same job. It will be interesting to learn what the court will decide in the future. The story seems true, so I am on the women’s side. Every human being has the same rights and equivilence.
